how does it work
Cookies are mostly sugar and starch, and hot liquid dissolves, or gets sucked into, cookies faster then it does as it cools.
Hot molecules move around more than cold molecules. The molecules in hot drinks move around therefore they go up into a cookie because of all the movement.
When liquid cools, it condenses, taking up less space. The absorption rate isn't impacted by the temperature of the liquid.
All things are made of molecules, which are affected by temperature. Heat makes them move faster, which would make them mix faster with the cookie molecules.
