Why do bees make honey?

The honey, made of nectar, is a food source for all the bees, however, the worker bees,sterile females, build the honeycomb where the queen bee lays an egg in each cell. When the egg hatches, the larvae appear and the worker bees feed them pollen and honey.

Bees make honey to survive through the winter, and this is the only purpose that the honey has to the bees, and yes they do eat it.
