Why did they name the candy "Snickers"?

Was it supposed to make you laugh?

The owner and candy maker Frank Mars owned an equine racer, a horse, and it was his favorite and so when he made the "Snicker's" candy bar, he decided to name it after this favorite horse of his who's name was Snickers. That's how that candy bar got it's name.

"Snickers" was the second product introduced by the Mars family, in 1930. It was named after their favorite horse. The original Snickers was first sold under the name "Marathon" in the United Kingdom and Ireland, the name was changed to Snickers in 1990 when Mars standardized many of its global brand names.

Snickers is named after the favorite horse from the mars family who are the makers of snickers and mars inc. So the name wasn't supposed to be funny. Fact: In the UK and Ireland it was sold under the name 'marathon', in 1990 they changed the name to snickers. With changing the name popularity rised.
