Why did the English Puritans settle in the New England colonies?

They believed all their needs would be met by the surrounding natural resources, and wished to be part of the local economy. They felt safe, and able to raise children in that peaceful environment. Life was simple and those who chose to work hard were rewarded accordingly. Everyone was happy.

The Puritans were a group of Protestants that believed the Anglican church that was the official church in England after the Protestant Reformation was still too similar to the Catholic Church. They wanted to be able to live according to their beliefs, so they moved to the new colonies in North America so they could have freedom.
