To get to the other side because she saw a sign that said 70 percent off sale on all women's clothing.

To get to the other side, of course! Unless you ask in an existential sense, in which case the answer is because it was there, and she exercised her own free will to cross it and prove that she was not confined to the barn.

Scholars have been studying such question for thousands of years. "Et Pollo y Camino" was one of the first latin prayers in the Catholic Church, so obviously it's a religious question too. I think scientists have recently determined that the main reason was "the grass is always greener on the other side of the road" but science isn't 100% accurate.

To get to the other side, as is commonly known. Another less-known variation: Why did the otter cross the road? To get to the other slide.

The chicken crossed the road to get to the other side. Or perhaps it crossed the road to be on the other side of the road. Maybe the chicken had a date and the chick lived on the other side of the tracks, which were across the road. But I think it was to avoid the Kentucky Fried Chicken.

This classic joke dates back to vaudeville days. Pairs of entertainers used it to get a laugh. The 'smart' guy would ask the question, then the 'thick' guy would think and give up. The 'smart guy would answer, "To get to the other side!" and throw a pie in his victim's face.

It is safe to say that the chicken did indeed have a reason, and as chickens are not known to be the smartest animal, it was probably looking for food.

The chicken saw a pile of books titled 'Chicken Soup for the Soul' in a bookshop window and decides to avoid ending up in soup by crossing the road.

It crossed the road because there was food on the other side. Or probably to run away from hungry people who wanted to eat her.

The chicken did want to get to the other side. However, there were no crosswalks for him to utilize. Also, it was a very busy road. The cars just kept coming and coming. The reason the chicken wanted to get to the other side was to get some grub at Chick-Fil-A, believe it or not.

To get to the other side...duh! Seriously, the chicken crossed the road because it decided in its mind that it wanted to.
