Why did Kubler Ross write "On Death and Dying"?

She saw doctors ignore their patients who were dying and was horrified by this "well, that's that" attitude. She wanted a more gentle way doctors and caregivers could handle death.

Elisabeth Kubler-Ross (born in Switzerland) had four miscarriages before finally having a son and daughter. In 1985 she worked with hospice, to care for infants infected with HIV. She experienced considerable personal grief in her personal life. Becoming pregnant did not allow her to finish her residency in pediatrics, so she took one in psychiatry instead.
