Raw honey (unporcessed) contains bacteria that is safe for older children and adults, but can cause illness in youngsters. Do not introduce it into a child's diet until 2 years of age. If your child has immunity issues, check with your pediatrician.

Young children should not eat honey because it cannot be pasteurized and their immature immune systems might not be able to fight off any germs they'd pick up from it. I kept my kids off of honey until they were two years old.
