Why aren't my pumpkins growing?

They have sprouted, but there are no pumpkins on the vines.

Likely the vines are still way too young. Pumpkins do not grow after the vines sprout; the vines must grow LONG and grow many flowers before producing any fruit. If you planted in spring, you should get ripe pumpkins by late summer if the soil is fertile and well-watered.

You may have planted your pumpkin seeds too early. I live in north west Ohio and read to plant the seeds in mid June. If you have flowers chances are you'll be finding pumpkin plants real soon. It might help if you try to use a little fertilizer also.

They were not fed properly, you could try fertilizing and watering regularly. Also pinching extra flowers and getting of large yellowing leaves will encourage the fruit.
