Answer by  John (9008)

The reason that Supreme Court Justices are appointed for life is to keep them insulated from the political process. Actually, all federal judges are appointed for life for this reason. The idea is to keep the current president from pressuring judges to rule a certain way by threatening to remove them if they do not do as he tells them.

Supreme Court justices are appointed for life in order to keep them free from outside pressures. This way, a justice does not have to wonder whether he or she will keep or lose his or her job depending on his or her decisions and the outcomes of the cases that come before the Court.

The reason that Supreme Court Justices are appointed for life is so the powers of being will not have to select another to fill in. There should be a limit on Supreme Court 4 yr, Presidents 2 yr House 2 yr and Senate 2 yr no Lobbyists. Bless the U.S.A.

One reason justices are appointed for life is so that they do not need to worry about getting elected. Many people have strong opinions on what the Supreme Court is dealing with. Since the justices do not need to worry about their future employment, they can make their decisions without regard for common sentiment.
