The name of the pinking shears is all due to a flower. It appears that the cut the shears produced resembled a flower-a pink.

Pinking shears may have obtained their name from the well-known flower called the "pink" which is also known as the carnation. The petals of the carnation have scalloped edges similar to the edge material gets when cut with a pinking shears. The cut from pinking shears is called "pinking" or "scalloping. "

I've heard people say it is because there is a flower that is called pink. I'm not sure anybody is sure though.
