Having friends available to you provides a network available to you for a number of activities: Socializing opportunities, assistance in times of need, a listening ear when needed, someone to lean on, and someone who has been there. Friends offer a unique perspective and can be objective as needed.

Friends are a priority because the people who care about you can be a source of emotional support and practical help when you need it, because people are a fantastic source of free entertainment, and friends tell you when you're about to go off the deep end.

Friends are defined by those people we rely upon and trust. To maintain those relationships requires give and take, as well as helping each other in times of physical and emotional need. To continue to call someone friend requires an investment of time and effort in each other, which means they need some priority in your life.
