George Lucas granted licensing to Bantam Books to release a series of Star Wars comics and graphic novels. They were not all authored by one person but rather a series of authors including: Troy Denning, Christie Golden, Jude Watson, Aaron Allston.

Answer by  Jessie124 (1885)

Actually, the books came after George Lucas created the movies. That happens with a lot of movies; they write the books after the films become successful. In this case, Lucas gave Bantam Books the right to create the novels (and Bantam hired the writers.)
