Many authors are historically thought to have contributed to the books of the Old Testament, including Moses, David, Samuel, and Solomon. There are various modern scholarly hypotheses on authorship, and research continues in an effort to clarify some of these theories. The various religions that count the Old Testament as a religious text believe these authors were inspired by God.

Since the invention of the Guttenberg Press allowed for mass distribution of the text, that may be man's most oft asked question. I'd suggest researching "Pascal's Wager" for more information.
