The role of Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore was played by a Richard Harris in the film versions of the Philosopher's Stone (2001) and the Chamber of Secrets (2002). Harris did in fact die of Hodgekin's Lymphoma in October of 2002. Dumbledore was played by Sir Michael Gambon in later films in the series.

Richard Harris played Albus Dumbledore in the first two Harry Potter movies, but he died in 2002. For the other films in the series, Michael Gambon has played Professor Dumbledore, and he is still alive.
