Soccer originates from informal football played throughout Europe and England, usually with uneven rules. The "father of football" Ebenezer Cobb Morley, was the first secretary of the world's oldest football governing body, the 1863 Football Association 1863. The Cambridge rules of 1848 by H. de Winton and J. c. Thring influenced the FA rules.

Soccer was invented in the mid 1800's by the British. When first started, there were no set rules until the end of the 19th century in which the rules were standardized. With colonization at the time, Soccer or football spread globally to all the colonial countries that were under Europeans rule.
