Animation pioneer and studio head Walt Disney is the individual with the most Academy Award wins. During his life, Walt Disney won an amazing 20 Oscars for his work across many classic films. He was also awarded a further 6 Academy Awards posthumously, making an impressive haul of 26 statuettes.

Walt Disney has won the most Oscar awards. He won a total of 26 but was nominated a total of 64 times. The first Oscar win happened in 1932 and the last one in 1969. He of course won for cartoons but also won best picture in 1965 for Mary Poppins.

There are three movies that actually hold the record for most Oscars. The first is the 1952 epic movie Ben-Hur. The second is the 1997 movie Titanic, and the third is the 2003 movie Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. All of these movies have won a record 11 Oscars.
