Who decided what the Thanksgiving date should be?

It was all deside back when the pilgrams met with the idians. that day became known as thanksgiving and was pasted on from generation to generation. The date was set by pure fiath i guess, based on what ancestors past down to us. There is no real way of knowing unless you were there on that date in history.

FDR made the decision in 1939. He was under pressure from retailers to change the date so that there would be a longer gap between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Previously, the date had been set as the last Thursday of November by President Lincoln and presidents after him continued his tradition of making a Thanksgiving Proclamation.
