Travelocity is the cheapest least expensive and best way to buy airline tickets. You can view prices online or call there 1 800 toll free number to inquire. In addition , they will email you when a ticket falls within your desired price range via a fare alert. They handle most of the major airlines.

The best way I found was to go on websites like expedia, farecompare. Watch them closely. If you depart on a Tuesday or Wednesday they will be significantly cheaper then departing on Saturday. Websites such as these will send you e-mail alerts when your desired destination tickets are cheap.

Look online through Orbitz or Expedia to compare rates of all airlines, and then visit the official website of the airline with the best rate to avoid royalties from them.

depending on if you are flying in the US or in Europe I think the two best sites to get good comparable rates are Kayak and edreams respectively. Kayak gives a good comparison on United states based flights. And Edreams. com gives great comparison rates when flying from one European countries to another.
