Where do I start if I want to learn 2D animation?

A great place to start is using a freeware program to learn the basics. Gimp is a common one. Once you have become familiar, Adobe CS is an excellent suite.

There is a large host of web based sites that teach the basics of 2D animation. I would recommend simply "googling" some and checking out some of the top hits. If you're reffering to 2D animation with regards to video games like Super Mario and such it might be best to download an NES emulator as well.

Browse the web and learn about the different applications that are used to develop such visuals. Software such as blender and adobe products are optimal for such activities. After this is done, there are multiple universities at your disposal to learn such a topic. Sites such as are the best option if you want to learn online.

you should be start by searching a program wich helps you to make an animation, then take some pictures, and the program would do everything, at least there are also some programs that makes an animation from a video.
