I recommend checking into Tory Burch's foundation for small business grants and loans. She has started a foundation that helps women with this exact situation.

Your best bet is to apply to the Small Business Administration. You will need to write a professional application that can sell your skills and qualifications.

The federal government provides loans and grants to woman owned small businesses through the Small Business Administration (SBA). Grants are also available from organizations such as The Women's Funding Network.

You can go anywhere that grants are granted. It does not make a difference that you are a minority woman for you to get a small business grant. If you are interested in getting special consideration for being a minority then you can google "minority small business grant" and a variety of sites will come up with such grants.

There are hundreds of small business grants available from the federal government. The best way to search for them is through the SBIR grant site.

A great resource is the Minority Chamber of Commerce. Not only can you source out grant information, you can get information on government contracts, and have many networking opportunities.
