Ideas can be found by looking through craft and printmaking books , as well as through keen observations of the children. Find what the children are interested in and make it a point to somehow involve their ideas and interests. This will make for a better overall experience for the children.

Coloring books, or even photo albums full of great memories can inspire art ideas. Individual projects, such as "use your handprints to make a car" or "use your handprints to make a house" can be a great starting point for the pre-schoolers. A huge sheet of butcher paper can be the canvas for a group picture of your city skyline.

There are many sources for hand print art. First try your school art teacher, your local library, or the internet. Visit with museums to see if they offer hand print art classes, or know of local artists that will visit your classroom.

you could look at forms in nature and see how they could be created with hand prints. You could look at animals and create them with hand prints. Googling hand print art may be beneficial. You could look at differant abstract works and see if there is a way to incorporate hand prints.

Search for the topic and click "images" and you can SEE some great projects that may trigger some of your own ideas. I loved to do group handprint projects (on butcher block paper) like a line of ice cream cones, baby chickens, frogs, or a rainbow and display the completed work in the classroom.
