Visit your local bookstore or go to Amazon. Chilton is a well established, respected publisher of car repair manuals. Each manual is designed for a specific model and range of years and includes detailed section on each of the vehicle's systems with illustrations, photos and step-by-step instructions for the DIY auto mechanic.

Just contact any Ford dealership and they'll be able to provide you with either a manual or details of how to get one.

To get a Ford Escort repair manual for 1999 I would check on eBay. I have found a manual there for the an older Ford Mustang I had. Trust eBay as a place to find the seemingly unfindable. You can often find many one of a kind items on there.

Your best bet is to get a Chilton manual for the Ford Escort that includes your model. Most public libraries have a full selection of the Chilton manuals, which include specs, diagrams and full instructions for how to fix just about anything that's broken. You an also order the book from Amazon or from a large bookshop.
