Jewelry markings are kept in reference books commonly used by jewelers. These aren't in high demand, but in most places in the United States you can find a jeweler's reference on interlibrary loan. There are also book swap services like PBS to try, as well as online and brick and mortar bookshops.

There are multiple ways to go about finding jewelry markings, one is to take your jewelry in to someone who specializes in jewelry, another is to search the web.

If you do any web search you can find the meanings of certain jewelry markings, or check your local book store!

You can look online and find most of the markings that are on jewelry. There is also a book available that can tell you the markings for gold and sliver and other precious metals like platinum. If you take the jewelry to a store they can tell you what the markings are also.

There are many books on the subject of jewellery markings, information may be online too, so try searching. Otherwise a jewellery store should be able to help.

The best place to start looking is online. There are a lot of websites that can help you decode the different metal symbols and find out what everything is. You can learn about different quality ratings of the various metals.
