Question by  missypoo98 (96)

Where can I find a good pair of ballet pointe shoes for a reasonable price?

I don't plan to wear them. I want to dye them and hang them on the wall.

When I danced, I bought shoes from Capezio. They are well priced and pretty nice. Of course you can always go to a local dancewear store and ask if thy sell gently used shoes. However, considering the short life of pointe shoes, you may not have much luck this way.

Websites like Discount Dance have a final clearance section that offers ballet pointe shoes at a fairly reasonable price, but you may also want to check local ballet companies or dance supply shops. The size and comfort of the shoe don't matter in wall art, so you might be able to find mismatched shoes at a very low cost.

If you want the shoes to use as wall art, call a dance studio or ballet copmpany and tell them what you're looking for. Used toe shoes are often sold for art, for charity, etc. Someone might even offer a pair for free.

You can get them at a sporting goods or dance store, but if you aren't wearing them, I'd recommend trying a few thrift stores first.

Check your local dance studio that caters to kids. They always have extra slippers in storage from kids who have lost interest and quit dancing class
