If he would like to avoid working for large employers like Wal-Mart or McDonald's, your son should follow up with any people, including neighbours, he knows with small businesses, and see if they need help. Alternatively, he can start up his own business- cleaning, landscaping, deliveries, etc.

Your son can use many resources. One being the internet. Sights like Craigslist will have lots of jobs. Also he can hand out his resume at the malls.

Try local church youth sports leagues, they always need referees and score keepers. Also, try places you would not usually expect like a furniture store or Dr.s office, people always need errands run and data entered and such. Grocery stores, department stores, and boutiques need stock people pretty often as well.

A lot of times, a guidance counselor or career counselor in his high school will be available to help him get a job. They normally know people in teh community who are willing to let a 16 year old work.

Start with the school guidance counselor, maybe he could get a job in-line with his career goals. Then read the want ads to see what is available to your son.

There are many resources for your son. He may want to simply start searching internet job sites. Some school districts also help teenagers with job placement.

Try craigslist, also try getting him to go out there and not just fill out applications online. Have him go the extra mile and write a cover letter and resume!
