Question by  itsme (24)

When will regular bowel movements return after having an enema?

Answer by  scigirl (129)

If your colon is otherwise healthy and does not contain an extensive amount of stuck debris, normal bowel movements should return within one day of an using an enema. If the bowel movements do not return to normal, you should see a doctor to see what is the cause of the blockage.

Bowel movements normally return within 24 hours if you are eating normally. On a liquid diet, it will be longer, possibly till you return to normal food. This can vary however, some people do not have a daily movement and it may be longer if your schedule is a little longer.
