You can fertilize by putting on little well-balanced fertilizer at emergence time and a month later. The fertilizer that gardeners use to grow vegetables eg. potatoes can be used.

I fertilize my lily bulbs 2 times during the year, in the spring when they are first breaking dormancy I use a high phosphorus bulb fertilizer sparingly spread around the base of the plants. The fall feeding is most important. I use a high phosphourus and potassium fertilizer in September.

Unless your soil is of poor quality, you do not have to feed them. If you were to fertilize them, you would want to use either a well balanced fertilizer or a slow release fertilizer. You want to apply this at emergence time and about a month later after that as well.

They can be a touchy flower to deal with the best thing you could do is go to your local library and check out some books on the subject and then you can have the book beside you as a guide as you begin to fertilize them that way they don't get too much or too little.

Lily bulbs should be fertilized during planting with an organic, slow release all-purpose fertilizer. After planting, use a fertilizer designed for bulbous plants once you note that the first flowers have begun to wilt. Fertilize every 10-15 days thereafter to ensure healthy plant growth and large flower blooms until the end of the growing season.

Fertilize lily bulbs at the time they emerge, and then one month later. Fertilize them with a well-balanced fertilizer. You can also use a slow-release fertilizer.

The best time for fertilizing lily bulbs is right at the begining of the Spring season. Fertilizer from your local Nursery would be best for this job. It is made to keep the bulbs warm should it get cold suddenly.
