What's the story of the Hindenburg Airship?

I hear it referenced all the time but don't know anything about it.

The Hindenburg was a very large airship that carried transatlantic commercial passengers. On May 6, 1937, while landing in New Jersey, the ship caught fire, killing 36 persons aboard.

In the early 20th century, airships or "blimps" were used for air travel. The Hindenburg was a large German airship offering passenger service from Germany to New York. However, the hydrogen used to keep the ship in the air was highly flammable and the ship exploded over New Jersey.

The Hindenburg was a gigantic German airship (zeppelin)that was destroyed in a spectacular explosion in Lakehurst, New Jersey in 1937. There were 97 people on board, 35 of whom died. The ship was a Nazi aircraft. It was covered by film, and so millions of people saw the news real.
