The treatment depends on the severity and location of your pulled muscle. Since you pulled it while running, hamstring or quadriceps are most likely the muscles injured. Reducing inflammation by ice treatment should be done upon initial onset of injury, followed by rest and protection and stretching of injured part.

Use the RICE method: rest, ice, compression, and elevation. The icing part is especially essential. Try using a bag of frozen vegetables as an ice pack.

The best way to treat a pulled muscle is by stretching that muscle out, if possible, than relxing with some ice.

Ice works great. Try stretching the muscle, then apply ice for 30 mins. You can also try rubbing in some deep heat.

Unfortunately, there isn't much treatment for a pulled muscle in the way we view medicine in a modern and western perspective. The only treatment is time and rest.
