Umpires in Major League Baseball come up through the minors, to the MLB. MLB Umpires make between 84,000 to $300,000 annually, depending on their experience at that level. Minor league umpires start off making about $2000 a month. In addition to calling the game, umpires are also entrusted with maintaining order and discipline on the field.

Our favorite bums start at $120,000, with our top guys earning $350,000. It is tough, physically demanding work that requires baseball experience and an intrinsic knowledge of the game. This is often a tougher job than the players of the game, and though derided, they are well-respected in the sport.
