"Galileo At Work" is a good choice, depending on the age of your students. The book was written by Stillman Drake, and is mostly a detailed account of Galileo's work- it does however deal with his personal life as well.

There are so many out there. I would use James Reston's book Galileo/A life. That is a great book and should be great for your class.
