What would cause a cyst on my right ovary?

Should I worry about cancer?

Cysts in the ovaries are actually not entirely uncommon and will come and go harmlessly in many woman throughout their lifetimes. A number of these women will not even notice. The presence of a cyst is not an immediate cause for panic. While it could mean cancer, don't worry yet.

There could be a chance for Ovarian Cancer, definately get the cyst checked out. However, you could be suffering from PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome).

PCOS only occurs if there's more than one.  add a comment

A cyst happens when the ovary emits an egg and the egg does not release; it usually goes away. When you reach menopausal age, then you can start worrying.

Cancer is always a possibility when talking about cysts, but it's not very likely. Only about 5% of ovarian cysts are cancerous. Almost all women of childbearing age have cysts on their ovaries at some point. Some of these occur naturally during the menstrual cycle, and some are related to conditions such as endometriosis or polycystic ovarian syndrome.
