In women's clothing bobbie socks, poodle skirts, and boufant hairdos. While in men's fashion blue jeans and leather jackets were the rebellious look, along with greased hair. The vast majority of all the working class wore button down shirts, perhaps a tie, with pants. Women full length dresses. Everything had a flair for the upcoming "space age".

50's fashion is marked by a return of the nipped waist, full knee length skirts and fanciful collars. The New Look by Christian Dior is a good example of this.

Poodle skirts and letterman's jackets were popular with high-school students in the 50's. Elegance was also in style with long gloves and shawls. During this period women started commonly wearing "trousers".

Full skirts, bobby socks, and beehive hairstyles were all very popular in the 1950's. Beanies and pompadours and poodle skirts, also.
