The first novels were printed on the Gutenberg Press in in the mid-1400s. Printing for mass distribution became popular around 1501. The titles of first novels are not recorded.

In my opinion, Lord Jim by Joseph Conrad is the most boring and difficult book to follow. Also, Twilight is pretty awfully written with very two-dimensional characters.
