Cousin of John Adams, Sam Adams was the first to propose a Continental Congress, to which he was eventually appointed. He signed the Declaration of Independence in 1776.

Sam Adams was well known for four things. First he was a revolutionary leader in Boston Massachusetts. He helped organize the Boston Tea Party. He signed the Declaration of Independence. He was governor of Massachusetts from 1794 through 1797.
