Daily life was very active and centered around the church and their frequent celebrations. Other favorite past times took place in the Forum.

Harsh. The standard by which we live today is so far beyond what the greatest nobility in antiquity could have dreamed of that it is hard for us to comprehend. Fresh water, was a luxury that, although essential, could not be taken for granted. In the "greatest city in the world' crime and disease were rampant.

The daily life in Rome was much tougher than life today, but it was better than the areas surrounding Rome.

Life in ancient Rome was hard work. Everything from the food on your plate was a struggle. There were brothels and they appreciated art.

In ancient Rome, slaves did most of the unpleasant work, while gladiators lived lives of blood and danger. Ordinary citizens dallied in the baths or flocked to sporting events.
