In a word: don't. Bamboo is incredibly invasive as a yard or garden plant, and many places have tight restrictions on how it can be used as an ornamental if at all. While the worst problem with invasive bamboo in the southeast, it can become problematic much further north. If you want to keep bamboo, get a nice potted plant.

The most important tip about growing bamboo is to be very careful which cultivar you plant in your yard. Most bamboos will take over and they are very difficult to get rid of. You want a clumping bamboo because it will only grow a few inches a year. The black bamboo is a really pretty variety to grow.

* Bamboos should be planted where there is ample sunlight. * For better growth provide ample amount of water in the beginning. * Weeds surrounding the Bamboo should be removed on a regular basis or else the growth will be hampered. * Use high nitrogen fertilizer for better results.

Bamboo requires a lot of sunlight and a constant supply of water. Make sure that it never gets too dry. If grown properly bamboo can grow very rapidly.

That they require alot of water and sunlight I don't think you can give them too much of either one.

Soil PH is recommended to stay around 6.0-6.2. Bamboo does not like standing water, but it does need more water than normal when it is newly planted.
