Cut back the flower stalk after blooming stops but allow for foliage to grow. Place it outdoors in partial shade. Keep the soil moist, not wet. Stop feeding plant in August. Stop watering the plant in October, this will force it to grow another flower stalk and will then bloom.

You will need to cut the flower stalk as soon as the blooming cycle is over. Leave the foliage to grow normally, but stop watering the Amaryllis about 10 to 12 weeks before you want it to bloom. When the flower stalk emerges, set in the sun and resume watering.

Cut back the flower stalk when the flowers fade after the holidays but let the leaves grow throughout the summer months. 10 weeks before your desired bloom time stop watering the plant. This will promote the growth of a new flower stalk. Start watering again when the new stalk appears.

One of the best things about plants and botany in general is the different varieties. Different plants are more resilient to certain elements than others. Pick up a good botany-book.
