Pussy willows grow well in any type of soil. It is best to compliment it with peat moss and/or compost. Prunning allows them to grow thicker. They need lots of water and enjoy sunlight, although they do well in partial shade. The willow will only accent your pond providing shade for fish in the sunniest of days.

The two best things that you can do is plant them in full sun and make sure they get a lot of water. Supplementing your soil with compost will also help them to thrive, as well as pruning them after each bloom.

Plant them in the wettest boggiest most hard to get to place you can find put them in and stand back and watch them grow they have to have marsh ground to grow in thats why when you drive down the road you will always see them growing in swamps.
