Select paint which is appropriate for the ROOM; bathroom, kitchen, or exterior/outdoor paint? Most paint over tile is going to look like "paint over tile". You can try "baking/curing" the painted finish on small sections at a time with an infrared heat lamp (how appliance & automotive paints are applied). You are probably better off re-tiling.

First, it's best to use paints specially formulated for painting over ceramic tile - regular paints will usually quickly chip away. You can find ceramic paints at stores like Home Depot or Lowe's. Remember that even using ceramic paint will not prevent all chipping of the paint.

Painting over ceramic is going to suck. It will flake and chip off quickly, moreso if this is in a bathroom where steam can help lift the paint. Changing the color of tile can be done with a sandblaster, however, and it can be rented hourly for not much more than the gallon of paint. Consult with a professional first.
