California, Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Utah, and Washington all have cellphone laws. These laws are being passed because cell phone use in cars is very dangerous and causing many accidents especially with teen drivers. Many states make drivers pay fines, usually at least 100.00 for a first offense.

Every state in the U.S. has cell phone laws. So you basically should steer yourself of driving with your cell phone on. It's against the law in every state and it's also against the law in Canada.

Michigan, where I'm from, has a cellphone law in place that prohibits people from talking on their cell phones and driving. There is a serious legal infraction consisting of monetary fines. And if you get in to an accident while talking on your cell phone, you could also face jail.
