Before you do anything make sure your battery cables are removed and the cables are pulled to where they cannot come in contact with the battery. You need to make sure you have room to get to the starter (car jacked up etc) Plan your route as in what else you will have to remove to get to it

Start by disconnecting the battery. The starter is easily removed. Disconnect the wiring, unbol the 2 bolts. Remove the starter. Place new one in hole. Bolt down. Connect the wires.

The starter is directly connected to the battery whether the key is in the ignition or not. ALWAYS disconnect the ground side cable of the battery as a first step.

You should know to disconnect the battery first and foremost. Have a full set of metric wrenches, and also to not over tighten the positive terminal on the starter, which is made of soft copper.
