Various turtle species originate from different climates. Because of these variations in origins, when turtles are in captivity they require different thermal regimes. Careful research should be done on turtles when you purchase them to deduce their exact thermoregulartory needs.

In a constantly changing climate, turtles will start acting a little bit odd, usually sleeping a lot. If the turtle's eggs are exposed to changing climates, however, it may change the sex of the baby.

Turtles are cold blooded, so the temperature of their environment is extremely important. Different species of turtles require different types of climates and temperatures to thrive. If you have a turtle as a pet, it is very important to do your research about the ideal temperature for the kind of turtle you have and provide a heat lamp.
