I don't think you should know anything about the origin of toothbrushes, but if you are curious, then do some Googling and see what you can find out.

The earliest toothbrushes were chewing sticks used by Babylonians. The Chinese invented the first bristle brush around 1600 A.D. By the early 1800's, many people owned manufactured toothbrushes.

It should be soft and elasticity to move around forward,upward and around round.Without more pressure it should work well .

The origin of toothbrushes is the chewingsticks used by Babylonians in 3500 BC. As years passed chewingsticks become the size of the pencil. The twigs found in chinese literature.
