Look for blood in the urine and frequent urination. Take you dog out to go more often. Make sure you dog has plenty of clean drinking water. The shitzu should have a balanced diet this will help with the PH balance. There is a pill with cranberry juice in it that may help.

You will notice that the dog, when taken outside, is only able to urinate several drops, or looks in extreme discomfort when doing so. Just like a human UTI, a dog will be in pain and will need antibiotics to help it pass. See your veterinarian.

shitzu dogs are a regal animal bred.they are born to live apampered life and is difficult to maintain them. urinary tract infections can be treated at home but consulting the vet is best. they occur due to bad cleaning habits , imbalanced water requirement, and not taking proper foods.

Well if it has a urinary infection, go to the vet. They actually have a perfect cream that will help the dog recover within two weeks. It happened to my dog also. You can tell if it the dog is feeling low.

It is hard to tell if a dog has a urinary tract infection. There are not always visible signs of this. Sometimes there may be blood in the urine. Other times, you may not know until it is too late. The best advice would be to get a urine sample to your vet and have it tested.

Dogs with urinary tract infections may leak urine, lick excessively, or have blood in their urine. Only a veterinarian can confirm a urinary tract infection and prescribe medications for it.
