What should I know about converting 2-prong to 3-prong?

It will be wired the same however you will need to add a continuous ground from the box to the panel. This will be a ground for all the other outlets also.

The converter will not work properly in an overvoltage condition and will not be able to send the extra voltage anywhere,damaging connected devices if the third prong is not connected to ground.

Converting from two prong to three prong is generally done in old houses that are not up to todays code. Basically, the third prong is a ground. You will have to run a wire from the ground to the box. You will have to check and see if it is making a propper ground or not.
