Goats nutritional needs change depending on the season, breed of goat and what their function is. Meat goats will not have the same caloric needs as a pregnant milk goat.

Goats are pretty hardy animals and taking care of them is relatively easy. They will eat a mixture of grains and fresh grass. Avoid pasturing them in the same area for a long time so they do not eat their own feces. Make sure they get their shots as there are some diseases (worms etc) that are endemic to them.

Be careful not to give your goats too much grain. Goats can eat themselves to death if given unlimited grain. That being said, goats can also be very picky eaters. Also goats are very athletic and mischievous and are able to get out of many types of fencing by either going through it or over it.

Goats can somehow find a way to escape almost any enclosure. They love to climb - especially on cars and decks. Goats will eat anything but should be fed hay or pellets and always have fresh water. They will need a mineral and salt block. They love to rub and butt their heads together. Goats make wonderful fun loving pets.

You will need a dry shelter. You will need to check the hooves about every month and trim if needed. Give them fresh water every day. And if you plan to drink the gaot milk you will need to go to a vet to get recomended shots.

Goats need a suitable shelter that shields them from the elements and predators. They also need grain that is protected from rodents, clean water, and regular vet visits.
