Hamsters get clean by grooming with their teeth, or by rolling in sand or dust. Be sure to keep them dry or dry quickly if you bathe them with water.

Unfortunately, there is no safe way to bathe a hamster. You should not even consider it unless the animal has something on its fur that is toxic. Hamsters groom themselves.

Hamsters should only be bathed if they get toxic/harmful substances on their fur. Otherwise bathing removes essential oils which can cause your pet to catch a chill and die.

Don't do it! There is no reason to bathe hamsters! Brush him if you want, but don't bathe him. He is likely to get sick and die.

I would suggest using a baby shampoo, its not harsh on the skin. Make sure that you don't get water in his ears. Lightly dribble water on his face.
