A mental health medical discharge is a release from the Army because a soldier has been deemed unfit for active service. Reasons for discharge may include PTSD or other trauma related mental disorders that would make a soldier incapable of making decisions in the best interest of other soldiers or himself.

You should be aware of the benefits available to you upon discharge. Seek out your local VA office and file a claim for you diminished mental health, whatever it may be. You'll go through a series of exams with the VA and hopefully, based on your service medical records, they'll find you service connected for you disability.
