What should I do when a coyote raids a chicken coop?

Answer by  hibpmgirl (2166)

Coyote proof your coop, dig the fences down into the dirt so the coyote cant dig under, put a roof on the coop so they cant jump and cover any areas that the coyotes can get in through.

You probably want to make your coop more secure. Put up an electric fence if need be. Alert your local DNR and neighbors that there are coyotes in the area.

Normally a coyote would be a menace in the chicken coop. These are blood suckers, it has to be treated like a fox or visit a veterinarian.

You should definitely put up some kind of reinforcements to keep out the wild animals. Also, don't be surprised if your birds are agitated; give them time to calm down.
